International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship

Formerly known as the Confucius Institute Scholarship. Funds study of Chinese language and International Chinese Language Education, from four-week programs to a one-year language course and a master's degree.

What it covers

  • Medical insurance — covered

Who can apply

  • Non-Chinese citizen, typically aged 16–35 (in-service Chinese teachers may be older)
  • Minimum HSK and HSKK scores depending on program length and level
  • Recommendation from an approved recommending institution

How to apply

Online at cis.chinese.cn, usually with a recommendation from a Confucius Institute, Chinese embassy or other recommending institution.

Typical window: Separate rounds for September and March intakes; check the portal each year
