How we check facts
Official sources
Fees, dates and admission rules come from the universities' own pages and notices for international students. Visa, residence and work rules come from China's National Immigration Administration and Ministry of Education, and scholarship rounds from Chinese embassies, Campus China and the China Scholarship Council. Founding years, student numbers and locations come from Wikidata, and rankings from each publisher.
Read from the page, with the exact quote
Our crawler, JiayouChinaBot, saves a university's pages. It follows each site's robots.txt and pauses between requests. Every fee or date taken from those pages must come with the sentence it was read from, and that quote is checked automatically against the saved page.
Checked by a person
Nothing is marked as checked until a person has compared it with its source. Pages then say “Verified” with the date, and anything not yet checked says “Being verified”, so you can always tell the two apart.
Sources and dates on every page
Each page links its sources and shows the date of its last check. The tuition table and the deadlines list include checked figures only, and application windows leave the list once they close.
Translations follow the English
Russian, Thai and Vietnamese pages are translated from the English. When the English changes, the old translation is withdrawn and the page shows the English until it is translated again, so a translation never shows an outdated fact.
Photos are credited
Photos are free-licensed from Wikimedia Commons, or used with the permission of the university or the photographer, and each one names its author and source.
What we are not
- We are not the official website of any university, government body or the China Scholarship Council.
- We do not handle applications. You apply to the university directly or through the official scholarship channels.
- Rules and fees change. Before you apply or pay, confirm the details with the university and the Chinese embassy or consulate.
